  • Jan. 27, 2018 - Shabbat Shirah Concert with Josh Warshawsky

    We will enjoy an entire weekend of music, prayer, and learning with Josh Warshawsky, a Rabbinical student at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles. Josh has spent the last three years as the artist-in-residence and music specialist at Temple Beth Am and Pressman Academy in Los Angeles, where he brings new musical energy to children and adults of all ages. In addition, Josh’s music is a mainstay at Ramah camps throughout the U.S. ELZ will join Josh in concert after Shabbat to celebrate Shabbat Shirah, the Shabbat of Song.

CD Release Concert – Sunday, March 18, 2012 – 7:00 p.m. at Agudas Achim Congregation

Agudas Achim Congregation presents a very special concert featuring the music of Ein Lanu Z’man, the congregation’s in-house band. The band will share music from their first CD: “Ein Lanu Z’man – We Have No Time.” Jewish music of all kinds is highlighted on this album – from Yiddish, Ladino and Yemenite folk songs to contemporary settings of Jewish prayer to classic Israeli favorites. Hazzan Elisheva Dienstfrey directs this talented group of musicians featuring piano, guitar, bass, violin, viola, mandolin, percussion, English concertina, and the voice. Following the concert, schmooze with the performers and enjoy some light snacks at the after-show reception introducing a live performance by the Rodger French Trio. Tickets are $25/each or $20 in advance. Sponsors are $136/2 tickets. All sponsors will receive their own copy of the CD. Friday, May 4, 2012 – 6:00 p.m. at Agudas Achim Congregation:

Join us for a pre-Kabbalat Shabbat concert with Hazzan-in-Residence Lance Rhodes visiting us from Brith Shalom Congregation in Houston, Texas. Hazzan Rhodes was born in Fairfax, Virginia, but lived in Ormond Beach, Florida for most of his life with his very talented and actively Jewish family. After graduating from the University of Miami in 2003, he found himself composing music for Warner Bros. and then traveling on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. But it was his journey to the Jewish Theological Seminary that sparked his Jewish soul. Since his graduation from JTS, Hazzan Rhodes has been part of the Brith Shalom Congregational family in Texas, where he met his besheirt, Dina. Look forward not just to hearing a lovely voice, but to experiencing a beautiful neshama. Admission is free.

Ein Lanu Z’man performs their annual winter concert in honor of Shabbat Shirah, the Shabbat of Song, entitled “Hamavdil” – a concert celebrating the separation of Shabbat and the rest of the week. This year, we showcase the talented teens of Agudas Achim Congregation: Philip Drembus, Jonathan Fogelson, and Jeremy Maline on percussion, Evan Salters on piano and Daniela Weil on cello. The concert is free and open to the public.

Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 – 8:00 p.m. at George Mason University Hillel:

GMU Hillel and ELZ come together for a Havdalah Musical Jam on Sat.night, Feb. 2 at 8pm. Join us for singing, schmoozing, and more!

Ein Lanu Z’man performs with talented teen soprano Jessica Soforenko in “Gesher: A Bridge to Shabbat” at a pre-Kabbalat Shabbat concert on Fri., June 7 at 6:00 p.m. Kabbalat Shabbat and Ma’ariv will follow. Admission is free and open to the public.

Friday, August 23, 2013 – 6:00 p.m. at Agudas Achim Congregation:

“Hallelu: Ways to Praise,” a pre-Kabbalat Shabbat concert, will be held at Agudas Achim before Friday night services begin and will feature the AAC band, Ein Lanu Z’man. Admission is free and open to the public.

Sunday, March 23, 2014 – 7:00 p.m. at Agudas Achim Congregation:

Agudas Achim’s annual spring concert, Oz V’shalom: Give Us Strength; Bring Us Peace, will be on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., following a weekend with our Artist-in-Residence, Oran Eldor. The concert will feature Mr. Eldor as well as Shir Tze’ir, the children of Agudas Achim, the Sisterhood Ensemble, Ein Lanu Z’man, and Hazzanim Matt Klein and Elisheva Dienstfrey. In addition, we will premiere the song written especially for the Centennial celebrations of 2014. Save the date now for this wonderfully musical opportunity to celebrate Agudas Achim’s first 100 years!

On Friday night, July 25 at 6:00 p.m., Ein Lanu Z’man, the Agudas Achim Band, will give our new Rabbi an ELZ musical welcome that only we who have no time (for anything except music!) can do. Shirat Shira – Shira’s Song: Cantor Shira Lissek from Park Avenue Synagogue in New York City blesses us with her gorgeous voice in this wonderful concert filled with songs from Israel to Italy.  If you have never heard the soulful singing of this splendid soprano, you are in for a real treat! This concert is free and open to the public. Donations are encouraged.

Sunday, June 5, 2016 – 1:20 p.m. at Tyson’s Corner

IsraelFest, our DC-area festival celebrating all things Israel, will be held on Sunday, June 5 from noon – 4:00 p.m. at Tyson’s Corner at the corner of Route 123 and International Drive. Since that day is Yom Yerushalayim, the theme of the day is JERUSALEM. Come celebrate with the Northern VA community. Ein Lanu Z’man will be there to join in the festivities. The band will begin to play at 1:20pm.

Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 – 10:30 a.m. at Family Promise Conference:

The mission of Family Promise is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Each year, affiliates of this organization gather together at a national conference to learn, to share, to grow and to be inspired. Ein Lanu Z’man has the great privilege of participating in an interfaith worship service that will be held Sunday morning, Oct. 15 at 10:30am at this conference at the Crystal Gateway Marriott.
